Stefania Giannini

President of Government Relations and Research, Efekta Education

Stefania Giannini is the President for Government Relations and Research at Efekta Education. From 2018 to 2026, she served as the UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, providing strategic leadership for the implementation of the global Education 2030 Agenda and working to ensure that education remained high on the international political agenda. A staunch advocate for inclusive and innovative education, she reaffirmed UNESCO’s global leadership during the historic disruption of education due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and at the 2022 United Nations Transforming Education Summit that was organized in its wake.

Previously, Stefania served as Rector of the University for Foreigners of Perugia (2004–2012), Minister of Education, Universities and Research of the Republic of Italy (2014-2016), and Senator of the Republic (2013-2018).
