Rui Yang
Professor Rui Yang is Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Education at Hong Kong University. A thought leader shaping the discourse on Asian and Chinese higher education, Dr. Yang moves beyond simplistic East-West binaries to offer nuanced understandings of policy mobility and institutional change. By bridging Eastern and Western educational paradigms, he has enriched
the discourse on cross-cultural strategies, exemplified by his collaborative work with Western institutions to develop a comparative framework for curriculum development. In his most recent book, The Chinese Idea of a University: Phoenix Reborn, Dr. Yang opposes the existence of an impassable chasm between Chinese and Western ideas of a university and argues that it is possible to combine Chinese and Western ideas of higher education.
Dr. Yang will be visiting the Harvard Graduate School of Education from October 12th to October 16th, where he will provide non-credit workshops open to the Harvard community. More details to come!
